Bewdley is the major intermediate station on the line, three miles from Kidderminster. It is often a hive of activity especially at week-ends in the summer.
    S.V.R. Highley
Highley station served the former coal mining community and is close to the River Severn in the far south of Shropshire. An important intermediate point on the Severn Valley line.

The 2007 Fooding; How the S.V.R. met the challenge.
In June 2007 unprecedented amounts of rainfall gave rise to enormous problems of flooding across the whole country, exacerbated by further heavy falls in early July. The S.V.R.'s infrastructure was severely damaged in countless places along the line from Bewdley to Bridgnorth, resulting in the curtailment of normal services for a period of nine months. A huge fund raising operation thus ensued, followed by the task of repairing the railway over the winter months. This collection of images illustrates the work that was undertaken in order to restore the railway to full working order. The various stages include that of assessment, organisation & logistics, the actual repair work itself, business as usual between the unaffected section, Bewdley to Kidderminster (and later between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade), and finally the full re-opening of the whole line at Easter 2008 together with the opening of the "Engine House" at Highley, the latter event also having been postponed due to the circumstances.
The Engine House - The S.V.R.'s Visitor & Education Centre
The Engine House is the new S.V.R. Visitor & Education Centre at Highley, mid-way along the line. Originally conceived as a facility for the covered storage of locomotives temporarily out of traffic, its concept was developed to a stage where it became a museum and educational centre, funded by a number of local, regional and European organisations. Construction began in 2005 on land purchased by the S.V.R. that was formerly used by the coal mining industry which was prevalent in the district until the 1960's. Opening of the centre, originally planned for August 2007, was delayed to coincide with the Easter 2008 re-opening of the line following repairs to the flood damaged railway infrastructure. As well as the many exhibits of S.V.R. rolling stock, the Engine House is fully equipped with conference and catering facilities together with displays and a gift shop.
    Bridgnorth - S.V.R. Northern Terminus
Bridgnorth is the northern terminus of the S.V.R. and the original operating base when the company was first formed by volunteers in 1965. Trains began running from here in 1970, initially to Hampton Loade, then further south in stages to Kidderminster thereafter. The station is also home to the extensive workshop facilities which keep the operating fleet of locomotives in running order, as well as being a base for a number of restoration projects. The Railwayman's Arms is the renowned licenced bar also to be found at Bridgnorth station.
    Aspects of Arley
Arley is one of the four main intermediate stops on the S.V.R. line. It has been faithfully restored and is maintained by local volunteers under the guidance of Station Master - Mr. Ian Latimer. These illustrations depict the current scene at what was once a typical G.W.R. country station.
S.V.R. Rolling Stock, Steam Locomotive Fleet.
The S.V.R. maintains a fleet of over twenty standard gauge steam locomotives in various stages of restoration condition. Up to ten are available for traffic at any one time, whilst the remainder are either under repair/maintenance or are being restored by groups of enthusiasts. Now that the Engine House facility at Highley has opened, those engines awaiting repairs on a longer term basis are exhibited there, as undercover accommodation helps to prevent deterioration of these expensive items.
    Bank Holiday Monday - 5th. May 2008
Scenes depicting the general activity on a busy Bank Holiday Monday. Table D was in operation which meant four steam locomotives and one diesel working the services throughout the day. The weather was overcast with light rain in the morning, giving way to brighter skies by the afternoon.
